Lesson 3 - Presenting Valued Artwork
Salespeople promote their valued product to their customers. Artists are promoting their artwork to their viewers: creating and presenting all day long. Knowing how to sell your valued artwork is highly important in the industry.

Bottom-line is that the producer didn't hire you to fill in an empty computer space. They are result orientated. Whether you are an asset or a liability to the company. Every person viewing your work should be treated with care and delicacy. They will judge and see if your product is either good or bad. And not only that you are also responsible in presenting your work clearly and accurately.

Part of presenting your work is following orders. If the decision maker states a point you better be sure to follow it. If you don't, you'll not only follow a series of disappointments. You and your valued artwork will lose it's reputation - it will hurt you more in the long run. Therefore, following a strict order is key to creating a great product for the client because it is creating based on what they want.

Lesson 2 - Inspiration creates motivation
I read many books on motivation but the fact was I never really felt motivated afterwards. I started thinking to myself, How can I motivate myself into creating something unique. I began having fun and doing the things that I would do everyday. I started to watch movies, play games, and listen to music. I began to think of my own stories as I indulged in those personal activities. It sparked an amazing amount of inspiration to want to create my own animations after watching these great directors create their masterpieces.

A movie called Tekkonkinkreet, was a movie about two orphans surviving in an evolving city slum. Their world was ruled by a famous gang in Japan called Yakuza. But these two orphans lived in their own child like world to survive in the dangerous realities of the social world. It was a story of brotherly love, and how the world can affect their bond and change who they are as a person.

After watching this movie, it revived my motivation and pushed me to continue writing about the characters for our teams animation project. It's fascinating to have your spirits moved after being completely inspired by another successful team. It gives you a drive. a push. it moves your spirits way up. It inspires your motivation to create. and it fulfills your desire to move mountains.

Lesson 1 - Working as an Artist

After watching Harry Potter, you're wondering about finding a career in film making. Could you imagine getting paid to do magical particle fx all day? You get up in the morning. drive over to work and begin to play. What a job you say but is it really like that when you're working in the industry?

When an art form revolves around money, business tends to come into play to become something more complex. Deadlines, results, competition, effectiveness & efficiency, bottom line all become a factor when working in the industry. Not to mention your job is on the line if you fail or fail to meet standards. Track record maintenance is huge. It can become more stressful than fun, and it won't be like any other jobs. The industry treats all artists like freelancers once your contract is up; you're left jobless. Do you still want to work in it?

To me, I love it. I enjoy being competitive in a field where constant learning is necessary. You meet great artists and you get to work on games, tv shows, and movies that are a fad in the marketplace. What's even better is that you're working for a passion that you enjoy doing, and if you plan on working for money you'll never make it The industry relies too much on your skillset and your passion to evolve. It is highly important to be motivated at what you're doing, or else someone that's more passionate than you will take over your seat. Art these days depend a lot on computers, and you do know how fast technology changes each day.

The art world is not an 8 hour shift, it can range up to 20 hours a day to finish up your work. It is long and lonely at times. Burning out is also a common illness in the industry. You will learn that one from art school. All nighters are usually mandatory at school and in the industry. That's the industry in a nutshell.
